The day you brought home your new Ram 1500 Houston was a great day. The power this truck can harness to get you through your toughest jobs is undeniable. When it's time for an oil change, Manvel drivers know that we're ready to help minimize the disruption to your schedule with prompt scheduling and reliable service. How can you check the oil in your vehicle to ensure it doesn't run too low?

How to Check Your Truck's Oil

  • Open and secure your truck's hood
  • Find your oil dipstick (your owner's manual can help, however, the dipstick handle is usually brightly colored to assist you in locating it)
  • Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag or paper towel
  • Return the dipstick to the oil and remove it carefully
  • Check to see where the oil level is – usually indicated by markings on the end of the dipstick that reads MAX or ADD
  • If your oil is above the ADD mark, you're set. If you have low oil, it's recommended that you add some to ensure you are keeping your engine cooled, but be sure not to add too much oil
  • Also monitor the color of your oil, which should be a transparent amber color
